CURRENT ROLES

Welcome to Australian Refugee Volunteers!    We are entirely volunteer run, (no paid positions), and we have a range of opportunities depending on your availability:

Our general program volunteers commit to 1 x day a month,  to find out more about our general program volunteers, visit this link: Get Involved as a General Program Volunteer.

For all of our other management roles read below.   These include:

  • Program Administration Roles

  • Operational Roles

Most current management volunteers started out with very little direct experience, so don't let that get in the way of you considering applying for one of these roles.  We'll train you up and support you as you learn the ropes!  Above all else, we're looking for passion and commitment.

For the below administration and operational roles you'll need to make at least a six month commitment.

Please email recruitment@arvolunteers.org if you would like to find out more or apply for a position.

Program Administration Roles

To find out more about our kids, youth, teens and charity programs click here.

Kids Program Team-   Client Manager

  • As a part of the kids program admin team, your main responsibility will be as a point of contact for our clients (families from refugee backgrounds).  You will establish relationships with the families, co-ordinate their attendance at our programs, and be the main point of contact for issues, as well as goal setting and ensuring general satisfaction and enjoyment of our clients.

  • You will work with the program manager, and the volunteer manager to ensure smooth running of our monthly program days.

  • You will need to make phone calls to clients inbetween program days to co-ordinate their attendance.

  • On the program day you would ensure they are engaged and flag any issues with the program manager.

  • You will need to complete debriefs in our online administration system, and ensure client details are up to date.

Time Commitment=  1 x Program Day a month (Sat), 1 x Admin Day a month (Sun), approx 6 hours of phone calls and team Skype meetings per month.   In total approx commitment is 3 to 4 days per month.

Teens Program Team- Event Manager

  • You will be part of the Teens admin team (clients aged 13-18), and your main responsibility will be planing the activities for each monthly program.  Teens programs try to incorporate a developmental activity, as well as a recreational activity, so if you have a passion for young people and want to help them be the best version of themselves possible, then we'd love to hear from you!

Teens Program Team- Volunteer Manager

  • Volunteer managers are required to ensure we have enough general program volunteers to support the teens program each month, support volunteers on the program day, and follow up with phone calls to ensure volunteers are well supported.

  • You will work with other programs to shift and co-ordinate volunteers to match the number of clients.  Then you will create a volunteer schedule for the program day, and you will co-ordinate and be a central point of contact for volunteers.

  • There will be some administrative duties like follow up phone calls with volunteers to survey and gain feedback, update the database of volunteer details, and co-ordinate with training teams to ensure volunteers have all of their training needs met.

Time Commitment=  1 x Program Day a month (Sat), 1 x Admin Day a month (Sun), approx 6 hours of phone calls and team Skype meetings per month.   In total approx commitment is 3 to 4 days per month.

ARV Camps

  • Program Coordinator: you will be the lead for planning and delivering our amazing school holiday camps!  This will include recruiting volunteers into the rest of the admin team for each camp, and overseeing that team in the weeks and months ahead of each camp.  Our President, Sam, has run a number of camps and will be there to assist you along the way.

  • Workload: as camps are not held every month, you will not need to attend all monthly admin days.  Camps are held when we are able to get access to the venue we use, so the workload can vary quite a bit.  This year we will only have one camp, 15-19 July, but we expect to run one or possibly two camps next January.  Planning starts 3 months out from each camp.
